Aga Khan Museum through a series of insightful photographs and videos captured over the past decade. Located in the Rasheed Dhuka and Nooruddin Khawja Family Gallery (formerly the Lower-Level Gallery), this special showcase not only highlights the Museum’s role as a vibrant and welcoming space where generations and cultures intersect but also invites visitors to reflect on its transformative journey. It invites you to envision how the Museum will continue to serve as a catalyst for conversation and connection, shaping the future while celebrating its storied past.

" itemprop="description" />
Jerram’s interest in the moon began while living in Bristol, UK, which has the second highest tidal variation in Europe. The scientific, cultural and, artistic dimensions of the moon have fascinated the artist ever since. To him “the amazing thing about the moon is that it acts as a cultural mirror. Every culture has different stories and mythologies to tell about the moon.”

" itemprop="description" />
Kour Pour’s celestial installation.

On display in the Museum Collections Gallery, Kour Pour: Cosmic Diagrams showcases three monumental paintings that explore the kaleidoscopic ways in which different cultures have envisioned the cosmos. Inspired by celestial and terrestrial designs from diverse artistic traditions, and blending elements of Persian carpets, mandalas, and zodiacal charts, these works reveal a shared quest to understand a vast, interconnected cosmic order.

Displayed alongside objects from the Museum’s Collections that highlight artistic exchanges between Islam and East Asia, this mesmerizing installation bridges East and West Asian traditions. It offers a contemporary perspective on how cultures have been intertwined throughout history to the present age, emphasizing how artistic expression has been — and continues to be — shaped by creation, adaptation, and innovation.

" itemprop="description" />

The aim of the Aga Khan Museum will be to offer unique insights and new perspectives into Islamic civilizations and the cultural threads that weave through history binding us all together. My hope is that the Museum will also be a centre of education and of learning, and that it will act as a catalyst for mutual understanding and tolerance.
