Legacy in Lines: Prints and Drawings from the Martin W. Brown Collection
Founded in 1965, the University of Maryland Art Gallery traces its origins to a pivotal donation of over 100 exceptional prints and drawings by Martin W. Brown to the Department of Art in 1955. This collection, now the cornerstone of the Art Gallery’s holdings, has since expanded to include over 5,000 pieces. It features remarkable works by both American and European artists, including Peggy Bacon, George Bellows, Thomas Hart Benton, William Gropper, Rockwell Kent, Grant Wood, and Rembrandt van Rijn, among others.
